We were a little disappointed that they couldn't take the breathing tube out yesterday, but they are lowering the settings to help Truman remember to breathe on his own. It is a fine balance because the pain medication he is on suppresses the drive to breathe. He did come off one of his blood pressure medications because his blood pressure dropped too low, we will see if he has to go back on it.
He really is remarkable how well he puts up with everything and the nurses all love him. they were explaining to us that he may be on some medications when we get to take him home and they will show us how to give those if he needs them. We were kind of overwhelmed by all the things they said we may or may not have to do when he gets home. As far as when he gets to come home they still haven't given us a time frame. It is more just when he gets off some of the stuff he needs right now and passes some tests. A few of the things they said we will need to know are - Child CPR and Choking Rescues, administering oral medication, possibly - administering injection medication (like an insulin type shot), possibly putting in a feeding tube. Hopefully we won't have to be trained on all those things. When they tell you all this stuff at once it is daunting to say the least, but when you think about it they will train you on it over days - hopefully not all at once.
So he is just recovering well. Day by day his swelling goes down and he looks more like himself and he is up to 9 cc's of milk an hour. Hopefully today they can take out his last chest drain and get him off the respirator.

All little Truman relatives in Sweden are now very happy that Truman is recovering so well!
We follow this blogg every day.
Truman rocks! So do you guys. You can easily do all that yucky stuff (shots, tube feeding) if it means Truman gets home sooner.
I remember the fear when the nurses said I was going to tube feed a baby every day, but in the end it wasn't sooo bad.
You will find reservesa of courage you never imagined you had (or wanted to know about), and do whatever you have to do.
When idiots say "I couldn't do that, I don't know how you do it" remember God knew that before He gave you Truman, and He will help you every day to find what you need to be what Truman needs.
It's great to hear that he is doing so well. Hopefully he can come home soon. In the meantime he is in great hands up there at PCMC.
